Mobile BGAN solution provides high-speed broadband on the move

Spectra Group (UK) Ltd has announced the immediate availability of the Thrane & Thrane Explorer 727, a new mobile communications solution.  The system uses the latest spot beam handover technology to provide resilient and reliable connections and continuous signal availability as it switches between satellite beams.  It delivers high-speed broadband to vehicles on the move enabling more effective voice, data and video communications in any environment.

The new Explorer 727 BGAN terminal and antenna solution is aimed at a broad range of applications, both military and civilian, that depend on high quality, uninterrupted internet and voice communications on-the-move, regardless of location.  It also eliminates problems caused by low signal strength in built up areas by automatically regaining the signal should it be degraded by the surroundings.

This vehicle-based BGAN solution features the same  mobile data rates as non-mobile BGAN terminals - standard data rates up to 432kbps and streaming data (QoS) from 32 – 256kbps.  Installation is quick and easy with plug and play operation. Interfaces include 4 x 10/100 Ethernet LAN (PoE), 2 x 2-Wire (RJ11), ISDN (RJ45) and 5x I/O connectors, making it suitable for use with a wide range of equipment and applications.  The antenna can be placed up to 92m away from the vehicle/terminal and provides full IP connectivity and Wi-Fi hotspot functionality.
